Celebrating Christmas with Grandpa and Grandma Pizano

Current Mood: Exhausted

Happy New Years Everyone and Merry Belated Christmas!!! Today was a very special day for the Cardoso family, Grandpa and Grandma Pizano came up from Oxnard to visit us and to exchange gifts.

Talk about running around and preparing for their arrival. I was like a headless chicken trying to get things together, from wrapping their present, fixing their present, cleaning the house, bathing Mia, getting Alex fed (which I ended up feeding him in the bathroom while I watched Mia play in the tub), getting myself ready and doing other odds and ends things. Phew, finally I was done and they showed up in the early afternoon.

Once they arrived, Mia as so excited to greet them. All she kept talking about all morning was "Grandpa and Grandma coming". Well when the time came to actually see them she clammed right up and clung to Daddy. We could not get her to warm up for anything, until we opened presents that is haha. Alex made his grand appearance once I woke him from his nap and they were so happy to see him too! I dressed both kids in their holiday best and that was also a treat for Grandma and Grandpa.

We wasted no time and went right to present time. I wasn't sure how Alex would be since he was woken up by me AND was hungry but to my surprised he only cried a couple of times (very briefly) but for the most part he was excellent. Mia played Santa. All dressed in her poofy white holiday dress and donned with her Santa hat she opened all her gifts, and her brothers as well. Both made out like BANDITS! and got the cutest things.

Once the presents were all opened, I quickly fed Alex while Mia dove into her new toys. She couldn't wait to sit on her new princess table and chair set (thanks to Grandma and Grandpa) and scribbling on her new drawing set given by her Auntie Gina.

Once Alex was fed we all got to visit for awhile, until Alex grew tired and went down for a nap. Mia on the other hand was like the little engine that could, though she skipped her nap and was tired, she never let on and kept playing with her Grandparents. At one point she had her Grandpa laying on the floor and coloring with her. She showed off her skills on how well she can say and recognize her letters and surprised us all when she spelled out Grandpa and then said the word!!! WHOA! Amazing huh?! She later sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Baby Baluga for them as well.

It soon got late and it was time to for them to go. We said our sad goodbyes and they snuck out of the house while we distracted Mia. She always gets so upset when they leave so we try to lessen the heartache by distraction and not bringing attention to them being gone. She did good, but I think it was mostly due to the fact she had tons of new toys to play with! haha

Overall the visit was very nice and we all had lots of fun. I am glad we finally got to get together and celebrate the holidays with each other.
