New Years Eve Fun

Current Mood: Tired

Happy New Years Eve!! Today is our final day of 2010! Wow what an amazing year! I decided to start the day with some fun. Alex was wide awake and up for some wake time so I decided it was picture time! I gave Mia and Alex the hat and blowers Daddy bought for them for New Years and let them have some fun. Alex, of course, didn't know what was going on but Mia on the other hand had a blast... once she learned how to actually use a blower haha. I couldn't help but film a few videos and take a few pictures. Enjoy!

Alex's First Trip to Rosa's

We made it! Phew I wasn't sure how it was going to go but to my surprise it went extremely well... better than I could have ever hoped for! What I am talking about is, Alex's very first trip to Rosa's Cafe Restaurant in Temecula.

We have been planning for a couple of weeks now, to go out to eat and celebrate Adrian passing his test. Unfortunately, the first weekend after passing I was sick, the second weekend was the holidays and this weekend is another holiday... so we planned on going on Friday of this week.

I still had to pick up Mia's photos at Sears in Temecula so we decided to go to Rosa's Cafe since it was near the mall. So after Mia's nap I got the kids dressed and off we went on our adventure.. the four of us. We have not gone out (other than Alex's doctor's appointment) as a family since Alex was only a few weeks old. Alex did very well in the car, other than some usual crying for being in the car seat (he hates it) and Mia was in a pretty good mood too.

We hit Sears first and picked up the photos. Alex was awake but very quiet and good. I pushed him in the stroller as Mia followed by foot. All we had to do was pick up the pictures so it didn't take very long before we were back in the car. We then drove to Rosa's down the road a bit. That is when the kids started showing signs of melting down. Mia was complaining about her hat on her head and Alex just got fussy out of no where. We debated on whether we should just use the drive thru or get off at all. The choice was mine, and I decided to gamble a bit and opted to get down and eat inside. I was afraid of regretting my decision later but I didn't know when the next time we would be out like that so I took a chance.

By the time we pulled up to the restaurant Alex was literally screaming. Adrian took Mia down off the car and I got Alex. Instead of bringing him down in his car seat I decided just to pull him out and carry him inside. Like magic as soon as his little body left the car seat he was content and stopped crying. We all ran inside since it was so COLD out side. I held Alex in my arms and he was happy. We ordered our food and found a seat.

Alex did so well the ENTIRE time there!!!! Though I did have to hold him, I didn't need to cradle him. I sat him up with me and he just looked around and waited quietly for us to finish our meal. He didn't make a peep though towards the end he did start to get a bit figity. I was so happy and so proud of my little man. He gave me hope for future outings for sure! Mia did good too and we all ate as a family at one of our favorite places to eat in all of Riverside.

Once we were done we all packed up again and I carried Alex out to the car. He actually fell asleep in my arms from the short distance walk. I was shocked. However, once I got him back in the car seat he blew up again and screamed on the ride home. Oh well....

Overall the dinner was awesome! I am so happy it worked out so well... he was so good! Unfortunately, I cannot say the same on how hes acting now. Hes been so fussy since we got home... ah well. I still prefer him to be fussy at home rather than when we are out and about.

My little New Years Baby

I tried to get a good "New Years Baby" picture, but Alex wouldn't have it. I did get some funny ones though that I just HAD to post

There he goes with his finger again, I didn't catch it until I uploaded the picture

"Are you done yet Mama, I'm bord"

The slant in the back makes this pic look like hes a Batman super villan! haha

Adrian called him Zoro Baby!

SHOCKED!

"I'm serious Mama I Don't like this!"

Caught in the Act

Yep, it's official. Alex has found his two fingers and uses them just like Mia. I have caught him numerous times asleep while sucking his two fingers and starting today I now find him hanging out with them in his mouth. Oh no!!! I don't know how I am going to break him from it, he likes them so much!

Finally.. REST!

I am so excited, happy and overjoyed!!! I finally got some decent rest last night and it came WITHOUT having Adrian supplimenting Alex at night! WHOOHOO! Its a first and I just HAD to write it down.

I had a doctor's appointment earlier in the day with Dr. Dresbach (the same doctor that saw me through Alex's pregnancy and I have to say hes the BEST doctor I have ever had!) so I was gone for most of the late afternoon. Poor little Alex woke up MAD and hungry so when I got home I quickly gave him dinner then a nice warm bath because my little man was stinky!!! haha

After his bath we had some awake time with Mia and he actually hung out for a long while. I thought for sure he would go to bed easily. WRONG! When he got sleepy and I put him down, he only slept for a good 20-30mins before waking up MAD ... again. Unfortunately, I was in the middle of trying to get Mia to bed so I couldn't tend to him. Adrian was working from home, so he did his best to try to console him but nothing worked. When I was done with Mia I came back down and fed him again. He wanted MORE awake time, so we hung out for another hour on the couch together. Once he got tired I laid him down and he knocked out cold then I went to bed. This was about 11pm.

He didn't wake up again until after 5am!!! WHOA! I know!!!! I was so happy because I got so much sleep. I came downstairs, fed him again and he knocked out AGAIN!! YAY! I laid him down and he slept until 8am!!! I went to bed after feeding him so I got a couple more hours of rest!

Today is the best day ever! I am so happy and excited!!! I just hope that I didn't get all this rest because today will be a hand full with the kids.... uh oh! I didn't think about that! In that case I better go back to bed again! haha

Like Sister, Like Brother

Oh No!!!! It's happening again! I don't know what it is about my kids and finger sucking!

Mia was around 18 weeks old (3months) when she decided to toss aside her binky and pick up finger sucking. At the time, I didn't mind since it made things easier for us. We didn't have to keep finding her lost binkys, replacing them when they fell out and she cried, or constantly sanitize them. I thought it was cool that she found her built in binkys, her two fingers on her right hand. Well looking back, boy what a mistake it was letting her get into that habit. It was/is probably the worst choice I have ever made regarding Mia. The finger sucking, over time, has caused so many problems. They made her first two teeth (her two lower middle ones) crooked, her top two middle teeth are pushed out, she has a slight lisp, and she keeps getting sick from touching bad things and then putting her fingers in her mouth plus the older shes getting the less and less cute it looks. Granted the older shes getting (she is pushing 3) the finger sucking is getting less and less. She no longer needs to do it to fall asleep, however, she still does it whenever she has her soft blankets. I have no idea how to break her from this awful habit.

Now Alex is following in her footsteps... and a bit early too I might add. Adrian and I both have noticed that he is getting obsessed with munching on his hand. It got to frequent that I brought it up to his doctor asking if he could possibly be teething already!? She said no and mentioned that babies often find their hands and like to munch on them. I still think it is a bit excessive since whenever Alex finds his hand he goes nuts and even starts to making growling like sounds!!

Recently I have noticed him trying to find his hands whenever he loses his binky while trying to sleep. I have to literally wrestle his hands away from his mouth just to reinsert the binky. He doesn't like it at first but eventually gives in and takes the binky.

Then last night I walked into the room to check on him and was shocked by what I saw. He was dead asleep with TWO fingers in his mouth, the exact same fingers Mia uses only he used his left hand instead of his right!!! OH NO!!!

I am not sure what I am going to do about this. I really want to try and stay on top of correcting this since I don't want him to run into the same issues Mia has.

Talk to the Fist!

Alex has been doing something really cute for awhile now and I keep forgetting to write it down. Adrian was the first to notice it and bring it to my attention.

Alex has found a way to keep himself entertained when we are not around. No its not batting at his toys, cooing, or crying. Whenever we leave his view and he gets bored he will stick up his arm in the air, straight out, (and always his right arm) make a tiny fist then stare at it. He will move it in circles, back and forth, and up and down and stare at it. It is the cutest thing. I tried to capture some of it on camera.

When he does this, it literally keeps him entertained for a LONG time! haha

Christmas 2010

Current mood: Accomplished

Merry Christmas Everyone!!! We did it! Christmas was a success!!! The kids loved their gifts and we loved the gifts to each other. Overall the day was great, I love my little family!

The day started early with Alex waking up first. From the moment he woke up he was all smiles and happy (which is unusual prior to eating breakfast). I think he knew it was Christmas and he was going to get presents! haha I spend some quality time with him, fed him then had a quick photo session with him under the Christmas tree. When he grew tired of posing for pictures we went upstairs to wake up Daddy.

I dropped Alex off with Daddy while I got Mia. She had already been awake for awhile so she was all excited to see me. When I told her Santa came and she had presents to open, she couldn't get out of her room fast enough. I then took her to our room so she could join Alex and Daddy. She didn't want to stick around, right away she kept saying "open presents" and wanted to go downstairs. So I grabbed Alex, set him up near the tree then busted out the cameras as Daddy took Mia down the stairs to see the tree.

Once Mia saw the presents under the tree she got all excited and went right for them. She started ripping up presents (that weren't even hers!) before we could stop her. I wanted to get a few pictures of her next to her brother under the tree but that didn't happen. When I realized there was no stopping the present monster I just let her have at it.

We opened presents as a family and Mia had a blast. She was our present opener and actually opened every ones presents for them, mine, Daddy's and even Alex's. No one minded though, we loved watching her light up and get excited with everyone of them.... even if they weren't for her. I never seen a 2 year old get so excited over a knife set before! haha

Daddy was excited about his presents which included a hard drive docking station, anti-static bands and SF Giants World Series Champs Shirt with matching hat. I was excited about mine as well, I got a comal so I can make tortillas better, rice cooker, quesadilla griller, Ginsu knife set and a neck massager! Everything I wanted and asked for! Alex got cars and toys and Mia got TONS of princess things including princess shoes, a princess kitchen set, and the full set of 7 princesses. She was in princess heaven! She also got an electric drum set too!

After the presents were all opened it was time for stockings. Mia made out with all kinds of little toys and one of her favorite being glow sticks. Alex did too, and Mia helped him open his stocking for him. He did really good and didn't get fussy at all, although towards the end he pooped and stunk up the tree but luckily Christmas was already over by then.

After present time, we all played with our new toys until nap time. The rest of the day was spent relaxing and spending time with each other with the fire going. It was so nice and cozy. What a wonderful day.

I couldn't ask for anything better, I love my family so much and I couldn't be happier. For the first time in YEARS actually since I was a little kid, I was so excited Christmas morning! I felt like a little kid again... only this time the excitement stemmed from the anticipation of watching my kids open their gifts rather than myself. Wow I must be growing up?! haha

Merry Christmas Everyone!
