Baby Shower in Oxnard for Baby Alex

Current mood: excited

Phew what a weekend!!!! We just got home a couple of hours ago from Oxnard. This weekend was Baby Alex's baby shower!!! I have been waiting all pregnancy for this day... the day I will be showered with baby BOY things!!!

My Brother and Sis-in-Law hosted the party at their house. My Sis-in-law is an AWESOME decorator so it wasn't a suprise on how CUTE the whole place looked. Everywhere were blue and white balloons, little blue baby feet decorations, white streamers, baby blue confetti with tiny feet and bears, vases with white flowers in them which also had blue marbles inside and blue ribbon decorated with a blue pacifier, matching tableware with a baby bear and so much more!!! But I am jumping ahead of myself a bit....

We started off the day with alittle glitch. Mia decided to take off her diaper the night before and pee all over her bed!!! UGH!! So that wasn't very fun and set us back in getting ready a bit. However, we still managed make it out the door somewhat on time and didn't hit any traffic... YAY! Mia did decent on the ride up, but she never slept and insisted on watching her TV.

Once we got to my Brother and Sis-in-law's house we were greeted and surprised at the door! Thats when we got to see all the decorations and all the food and awesome cake! I quickly greeted my excited little nieces and everyone commented on how big my belly was!!! (And it is!!) We got there a little before the party started so we had some time to catch our breath and really take in the scenery before family started to show up.

It didn't take long before the house started filling up with more and more family members as they slowly arrived. The present table was STACKED with all kinds of presents and everyone was happy to see us. Living so far away from Oxnard, its so hard and rare to see certain family members... so they all got a treat in seeing Mia and us again. Everyone was talking about the baby boy! Especially my Mom's side since there hasn't been a baby boy born into the family since 1976!

Mia had a blast hanging out with her cousins and running all over the place. I had a blast chatting and catching up with family. After everyone was done eating the awesome catered Mexican food it was game time!!! My Dad hosted the games and we all got to play. My cousin Frankie seemed to win almost EVERY single game!!! We think he cheated! haha just kidding. We played a word game where we passed around a present until the story my Dad was reading (with trigger words) was over and the person who was holding the present won. We did that a few times. Then we played the notorious belly measurement guessing game (which my Grandpa won!!! that was pretty cool), and a new game. This game was having the person balance an oreo cookie on their forehead and trying to get it into their mouths without using their hands!!! That game was HILARIOUS!!!! and of course my Cousin Frankie won... again! haha but everyone had a blast.

Then it was present time!!!! My favorite! haha We all gathered around the dinning room table and I dove right into the presents! Everything BOY Everything Blue! It was great! We got so many toys, blankets, clothes and much MUCH more!!!

After present time it was time to eat CAKE!!!!! Since I cannot eat any cake due to my diabetes I had Adrian pick out the flavor he wanted and he finally got what he always hoped for... a Chocolate cake with Chocolate filling!!! The top of the cake had really good icing (so I've heard.. I couldn't have any.. DOH!) and it was sooo boyish!! It had baby blue trim around it with a white background. A baby blanket made out of frosting topped with blue baby booties. On the far right of the cake was my maternity picture, and under that a tiny blue pacifier!! It was adorable!!!!!! "Its a Boy!" was also written on it.

Soon everyone was stuffed with cake and when all was said and done it was the diaper raffle time!!!! Anyone who brought diapers had a chance to win a prize! Unfortunately, I don't know where I was in the house so I didn't get to see who won but the prizes were really nice. Afterwards we all visited alittle more and it was time to go.

Everyone wished us luck and made sure to sign the baby ultra-sound framed picture I brought for Alex's room. Once the house was empty and quiet again I flopped on the couch and became a couch potato and hung out with my brother and family a bit longer. We ended up spending the night and left later the next day.

Overall the party was such a HUGE success!!! We all had so much fun!!! I can't wait to go through all my presents again and start to set things up and get ready for Alex's big arrival!!!! EEEEEK!
